Friday, June 22 - Botanical Gardens, Endeavour Falls, Guurrbi Rock Tours

This day was PACKED, but incredible. We first went to the botanical gardens, which about a mile from our caravan park. I didn't realize how large the gardens were until I started walking through them. It was beautiful! There were all kinds of rare plants there as well as some pathways to other plants. There were several geckos that would pop out at me while I was walking on the trail.
I heard some of the group coming toward me, and they were coming from a trail I thought may be too long for the 30 minutes I had left to explore. It was a 600 meter walk, which took me about 15 minutes, and it was up and down and a beautiful walk. I wish I would've had more time, but boy was it worth it. Here, let me show you...one of the prettiest spots....Finch Bay.

I had ten minutes to run back to the bus, it was definitely more uphill on the way back, so I lost some calories there. On the way to our next stop, we looked at this swamp that used to be a river, I believe? I can't remember the story, but our professor had some distinct family history at this swamp we visited.

We then traveled to a convenient store near Endeavour falls. When we walked in as a group, the cashier said that someone has to feed their fish. It wasn't too big or anything...
This bad boy is called a Barramundi. Feeding him was intense. You basically have to hold a shrimp right at the water so that the fish can jump up and grab it so fast out of your hands. It even broke one guys' skin while feeding him! Of course Jeff tried this, and one more crazy kid.
Next, we bought some chips from this convenient store (chips = french fries), and had our lunch in the front of the store. We then went on to see the Texas Longhorns in the fenced in area next to the store. I know, TEXAS LONGHORNS in AUSTRALIA? Doesn't seem to make sense? Still doesn't to me. Regardless, these guys were fun to hang out with and take pictures of.

We then traveled behind the store to the Endeavour Falls. It wasn't too far.

We then traveled to Guurrbi Rock Tours to get a tour of some aboriginal artwork. This was a magical place, filled with amazing aboriginal insights of Willie Gordon. Here are some pictures of the paintings and the rocks we had to walk on top of to get to some of the paintings. The last photo is a painting of the "educator", which was said to be the most valuable asset to the community. Well, looks like I'm going into a pretty important profession :P

This is my Friday! More coming Soon!
